BIRMINGHAM, AL - Rice sophomore jumper Michelle Fokam claimed the Owls first-ever C-USA Indoor long jump title Saturday afternoon at the Birmingham CrossPlex, highlighting the team's day one performance at the C-USA Championships.

As of Saturday her mark was also Top-25 in the nation. In that same event, sophomore Camille Little earned an additional four points for the Owls with a fifth place finish of 5.72m (18-09.25).

In the distance events, freshman Lourdes Vivas de Lorenzi scored five points for the Owls in her C-USA Championship debut with a fourth place result (17:19.19) in the 5000m. Also earning five points for the Owls was the distance medley relay squad of Elsa Racasan, Akuria Young, Hannah Bablak and Khayla Patel. The foursome finished with a season-best time of 11:47.22.
