Owls Conclude Road Trip at Middle Tennessee
The Rice Owls women's basketball team will attempt to get back in the win column on Saturday when they travel to Murfreesboro, TN to face the Blue Raiders. Rice is coming off a 70-63 loss at first place UAB on Thursday while the Blue Raiders dropped a road contest at WKU. The Owls are 8-5 on the road this season while MT holds a 7-4 record at the Murphy Center. MT leads the all-time series versus Rice, 5-0.

Last Time Out
The Owls placed four players in double-figure scoring but it wasn't enough to slow down the outside shooting of the C-USA-leading UAB Blazers Thursday evening in a 70-63 loss at Bartow Arena. Rice tried to make a late rally in the fourth quarter after falling behind by as much as 12 points with six minutes remaining, but UAB's 11 made three-pointers (Rice opponent season-high) proved too much to overcome on this particular evening. The Owls were led in scoring by redshirt sophomore Erica Ogwumike, who registered 15 points and picked up her 10th double-double of the season with a game-high 11 rebounds.

MT Scouting Report
The Blue Raiders have the number two scoring defense (57.1 ppg) in the league during C-USA play, trailing only Rice themselves. On the flipside, the Blue Raiders rank last in the league in scoring (58.1 ppg) and shoot just 39.2 percent from the field as a team. Alex Johnson, the C-USA Preseason Player of the Year, leads the team in scoring (14.6 ppg) after returning from injury.

Best Start in School History
The Owls are out to their best 23-game start (18-5) in program history since the 1981-82 team, which also went 18-5 through 23 games. The school record for most wins in a season is held by the 2004-05 Owls, who won 24 games and were the WAC champions. Rice is vying to record consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time since the 2003-04/2004-05 seasons.
