Sarkar advanced with a straight set win over Baylor's 78th
ranked Matias Soto 6-3, 6-4, while Russell also defeated a member of the host team, dropping Constantin Frantzen of Baylor 6-3, 6-3. Eric Rutledge
bounced back from an opening round singles loss to pick up a pair of wins in the consolation bracket. Rice also saw two doubles teams win their opening matches on Saturday.
