Thanks to her stellar run through the NCAA Singles tournament, Rice junior Katherine Ip vaulted up 60 spots to finish 44th in the 2016 Oracle ITA College Tennis Rankings, which were released on Wednesday.
Ip entered action in Tulsa, Oklahoma ranked 104th in singles, but thanks to a win over the 28th ranked player in the opening round of the NCAA team championship and wins over players ranked fourth and 39th in the singles championship, she blasted her way into the national top 50.
Her two wins in Tulsa also allowed her to become the third women's tennis player in school history to earn All-American honors.
Ip also earned a spot in the final top 50 in doubles and she and partner Emily Smith moved from 57th to 45th in the final rankings.
