Rice's Anniina Ala-Seppälä won two event titles at Finland's National Swimming Championships, and has qualified for the European Championships to be held in London this May.
Ala-Seppälä, a junior on the Owls' swim team who is originally from Hollola, Finland, won her country's 2016 national championship in both the 800-meter freestyle (9:10.29) and the 1,500-free (17:43.68). She also won a silver medalist in the 200-freestyle (2:04.86) and placed third in the 400-free (4:23.07).
The Finnish national team has selected Ala-Seppälä to represent her country at the European Championships to be held May 16-22 in London. Not only is she scheduled to compete in individual events, she has been picked to be a member of the country's 4x200 freestyle relay.
