SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Rice University men's golf carded a 296-303-599 (+31) to stand in 13th place through two rounds at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational. The event concludes with the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
Senior Tommy Economou paced the squad as an individual with a 73-72--145 (+3) and ranks tied for 19th. He carded four of his seven birdies in the opening round.
Kevin Reilly led the team in 32nd place with a 73-75--148 (+6). The sophomore notched one birdie in each round. Freshman Mitchell Meissner followed closely behind with a 73-76--149 (+7) to stand in 38th place. The rookie notched six birdies on the day, including four in the first round.
Trey Johnson carded a 74-76--150 (+8) to wrap up Monday's play in 45th. The junior sank two of his three birdies in the afternoon round. Jeff Wibawa rebounded from a tough opening round with a 79-76--155 (+13). The senior ranks 67th overall after posting four of his six birdies in the morning session.
Joe Beck III rounded out the group with a 76-80--156 (+14) to finish the day in 71st place. All three of his birdies came in the first round.
Baylor leads the field with a 572 (+4), five strokes ahead of host UTSA. The Bears' Kyle Jones is tied for the lead with Sam Houston State's Logan Boatner and Houston Baptist's Preston Stanley at 138 (-4).
The Owls tee off Round Three on the 10th hole beginning at 7:30 a.m. in a group with 14th-place Louisiana Tech and 15th-place Northern Colorado.
