NEWS & NOTES
- The Rice Owls will be seeking a bit of revenge Wednesday evening when they host the North Texas Mean Green at 6 p.m. in the annual Dig Pink match. The Owls fell in five sets earlier this season in Denton to the Mean Green back on Oct. 2 in a match where Rice freshman middle blocker McKay Kyle posted a season-high 18 kills. Rice is 8-4 all-time against the Mean Green.
- Senior outside hitter Noelle Whitlock is now just 66 digs shy of reaching 1,000 for her career. The Riverside, Calif. native has already compiled 223 digs this season, 2.65 per set, and is attempting to join fellow senior libero Kimberly Vaio as the other Owl to join the 1,000-career digs club. Vaio accomplished the feat back in mid-September, becoming the 15th Owl in school history to do so.
- Rice checks in at No. 70 in the latest NCAA RPI rankings released on Monday. Rice trails only WKU (No. 19) amongst C-USA schools in the rankings. North Texas is ranked No. 93.
- Rice ranks fifth in the nation in total team assists (1,126) and eighth in the country in total team kills (1,195). The Owls are also 15th in the country in assists per set (13.40) and 17th in kills per set (14.23).
