Day One Results
PEARLAND—The Rice golf team is in eighth-place heading into the final round of the inaugural Bayou City Collegiate Classic, played at the par 72, 7,272-yard Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland.
Mario Carmona is tied for 12th-place at two-over par after carding rounds of 72-74/146. The 72 is his second round of par or better this year and the fifth of his career.
Trey Johnson, playing as an individual, is tied for 16th-place at three-over par. The senior fired a career-best 69 before posting a 78 to tie his 36-hole career-best at 147. The 69 is his first round of par or better this year and the second of his career. It is also his first career round in the 60's.
Kevin Reilly is four-over par in a 21st-place tie after posting rounds of 75-73/148. James Lee carded rounds of 78-72/150 to sit in a tie for 31st-place at six-over par. The 72 is his second round of par or better this year and the 17th of his career.
Will Voetsch, playing as an individual, is tied for 61st-place at 12-over par after rounds of 82-74/156. Jay Burlison posted rounds of 80-77/157 to sit in a 66th-place tie at 13-over par and Alex Levy is 14-over in a tie for 70th-place after rounds of 78-80/158.
North Texas leads the team competition at even-par, eight strokes ahead of Lamar. McNeese State's Robert MacIntyre leads the individual tournament at six-under par, two strokes in front of Houston's Matt Dunn and UNT's Michael Cotton.
