Women's Tennis Recruiting Class Earns High Marks

June 13, 2014

Elizabeth Schmidt's 2014 recruiting class has been ranked as the 12th-best in the country and the top class among mid-major schools as defined by tennisrecruiting.net in its annual round of voting by media who cover the sport.

Rice's two recruits, Lindsey Hodge and Savannah Durkin, received 298 points in the voting, to rank just ahead of Northwestern, Texas Tech and Alabama in the national poll, while they edged out fellow C-USA member FIU in the poll of mid-majors.

Hodge and Durkin were both ranked as Top-30 recruits Hodge has won USTA national titles, while Durkin posted twelve wins last summer in the USTA Hardcourt Nationals, Claycourt Nationals, and National Team tournaments.

Coming off a second consecutive Conference USA title and top 25 finish, the Owls will count on the incoming recruits to ease the loss of a pair of senior standouts in Dominique Harmath and Kimberly Anicete, who combined for nearly 200 wins in singles in their four years.
