Senior Natalie Beazant breezed to a straight set win in the semifinals to earn a berth in the singles championship at the 2014 USTA/ITA Regional Championships held at the Hurd Tennis Center on the campus of Baylor University in Waco on Thursday.
The tourney's tenth seed, Beazant rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Houston's Elena Kordelaimi to move into the finals where she will take on Kordelaimi's UH teammate, Despoina Vogasari at 9 a.m. on Monday with a berth in the USTA/ITA Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on the line. The national finals will be held November 6-9 in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
The singles title match will be the first of two for Beazant on Monday in Waco.
She teamed with Alison Ho to continued their run through doubles bracket. They downed Abilene Christian's Kaysie Hermsdorg and Lucille Pothier, 8-3 on Sunday and advance to face Texas State's Shannon Beckett and Evan Dench in the consolation final on Monday morning. That match will take place after Beazant's singles final.
