Rice's Casey Clark swam a 2:05.87 in the morning preliminary round of the 200-meter freestyle Wednesday (June 27) at the U.S. Olympic Trials. The Owl standout from Spring, Tex., finished 87th out of the top women's swimmers in the United States. She did not advance to the event finals scheduled for later in the evening.

After swimming the 100-meter butterfly on Monday, Clark has closed-out her participation in the Olympic Trials. Rice swimming is not, however, finished at the country's biggest meet just yet. Fellow Rice swim star Erin Flanigan will be back to compete in the 200-meter butterfly prelims on Thursday morning.

The U.S. Olympic Swim Trials is structured to run like swim events in the upcoming London Olympics. The trials, under the direction of USA Swimming, is set for June 25 to July 2 at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb. Entrants will have to advance through two separate rounds for a chance to make the 2012 United States Olympic Swim Team.
