South Bend, Ind. - The Rice Owls women's track and field team competed at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational on Saturday and turned in several fine performances.
In the 800m, senior Sophie Peeters led the Owls with a time of 2:14.09. Freshman Tyneisha McCoy, in her first collegiate 400m race clocked in at 57.68 to lead Rice. Lilian Nwora posted a season-fast time of 58.80 in the 400m as well. Another freshman, Allie Schaich ran her fastest time in the mile this season at 5:07.44.
The Owls's 4x400m relay quartet of Tyneisha McCoy, Precious Knighton, Sophie Peeters, Lilian Nwora posted a season-best time of 3:55.91.
The Owls are back in action next Saturday, Feb. 11, when they compete at the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station, Texas. Action begins at 2 p.m.
