HOUSTON - With a three-stroke lead after two rounds of play, Northwestern University will vie to become the first team to win multiple Rice Intercollegiates when the early spring tournament wraps up Tuesday at Westwood Golf Club.

Northwestern, the 2003 tournament champion, was the only team in the field to finish two rounds of play at even par through the first day of the 2012 tournament. Eric Chun led the Wildcats with a three-under par 141 and is the second-round co-leader with Air Force's Kyle Westmoreland.

One stroke behind the leaders and tied for third with two-round, 142 scores is New Mexico State's Zachary Fullerton and UTSA's Ryan Werre.

Northwestern will be paired for Tuesday's finals round with Florida Gulf Coast and Houston who are second and third, respectively, after 36 holes of play.

FGCU's Jack Hernandez and Kyle English are both in the Top 10 of the individual standings with even par 144s to lead the Eagles to a 579 team score (+3).

The Cougars are just six strokes back of the lead. Houston's Roman Robledo is tied for fifth, one-under par while teammate Jesse Droemer is tied for seventh after an even-par 144 through two rounds of play. UH shot a 582 on Monday.

Host Rice is currently in 14th place with a two-round 599 team score. The Owls rebounded from a 305 morning round to shoot a 294 later in the day.

Rice sophomore Jeff Wibawa came back from a morning round 75 to shoot a 71 later in the day and is currently tied for 19th at two-over par (146).

The Owls will be paired with Missouri State and Houston Baptist for Tuesday's final round. The Owls will begin play from the No. 14 through No. 18 tees with an 8 a.m. shotgun start set to begin action.
