2011-12 Rice Golf Schedule link
While Justin Emil begins his first season as Rice University's golf coach, the schedule assembled for his inaugural season will include familiar territory for the Owls.
Rice will play a 10-event, regular-season schedule including the return to seven tournaments the Owls competed in last year. Rice will compete in four events during the fall season and play in six tournaments during the spring season prior to playing in the Conference USA Championship next April.
Emil will bring plenty of local knowledge to the Owls' first stop of the season when the team takes part in the Sam Hall Intercollegiate Sept. 12-13. Emil, a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, returns to his home course as a collegian as the Owls play in the USM-hosted event at Hattiesburg Country Club for the second straight year.
The Owls will also return to tournaments hosted by Louisiana Tech and Texas-San Antonio before closing out the fall season at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate hosted by New Mexico State in late October.
The spring season begins Feb. 13-14 with the Oak Hills Invitational hosted by UTSA.
The Owls play host to the 12th annual Rice Intercollegiate at Westwood Golf Club Feb. 20-21.
Rice also plays a spring event hosted by Louisiana Tech before closing out the regular season with three tournaments in south Texas - the 61st Border Olympics played in Laredo; the Jim West Intercollegiate in Victoria; and the Houston Invitational set for The Woodlands.
The Conference USA Championship returns to the Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark., for the second straight year April 22-24.
