Owls Women's Cross Country Competes at NCAA South Central Regional

NCAA South Central Regional Information

Rice's women's cross country team runs on Saturday, November 12 at the NCAA South Central Regional at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco, Texas.

It is the eighth time in the last nine seasons, that Baylor has hosted the NCAA South Central Regional. The men's 10,000-meter race kicks off the day at 10 a.m., followed by the women's 6,000-meter event at 11:15. An awards ceremony follows the morning's events near the CCGC clubhouse. The top two teams receive automatic bids to the NCAA Championship in Terre Haute, Ind.

Competing for Jim Bevan's Owls are Becky Wade, Halsey Fowler, Allison Pye, Lindsay Miller, Allie Schaich, Farrah Madanay, and Heather Olson. Two weeks ago the Owls placed third at the Conference USA Championship as Wade and Pye earned All-C-USA First Team honors by placing fifth and sixth respectively.

Last season, Nicole Mericle won the NCAA South Central individual title for the second time and Britany Williams placed eighth to lead the Owls to a second place finish with 72 points and the automatic bid to the NCAA Championship
