Squire Creek Intercollegiate Final Results
CHOUDRANT, La. - After opening play Tuesday at three-under par, Jeff Wibawa shot a 78 to slip into a tie for 14th at the Louisiana Tech Squire Creek Intercollegiate. Wibawa was the Owls' top finisher as the squad was 12th in the final team standings.
First-round individual leader Scott Kelly from Sam Houston State shot an even par 72 to hold off Southern Mississippi's Derek Plucienski who shot a 69 Tuesday. Kelly won the tournament by one stroke, finishing at eight-under par (66-70-72-208).
Plucienski, who was under par for all three rounds (69-71-69-209), helped lead Southern Miss to an eight-stroke, team championship. USM's Zach Estep was also under par for all three rounds (70-70-71) while Casey Fernandez and Kevin Brady both finished in the Top 20 for the Golden Eagles who finished with a three-round score of 854 (-10).
Host Louisiana Tech finished second with an 862 while Southeastern Louisiana was third with an 875. Led by individual medalist Kelly, Sam Houston finished fourth with an 882.
Rice shot a 311 on Tuesday to finish with a three-round 915 score.
James Ragan, who tied for 45th, and Brock Wilson had the Owls' best scores on Tuesday, both finishing with 76s. Making his collegiate debut, Ragan shot a 12-over par 228 (73-79-76) for the tournament.
Rice returns to action Oct. 16-18 when the squad travels to San Antonio for the Lone Star Invitational hosted by Texas-San Antonio. The tournament will be played at Briggs Ranch Golf Club.
